July 12

Monday morning Charlotte took us back to the little neighborhood restaurant and we had fried eggs, a dumpling and a little fried dough again (no calories there).  We all then went back to her parents’ place to work on the wedding ceremony.  Fortunately, we were able to access crcna.org (Christian Reformed Church of North America) online.  Our choices for wedding ceremony forms were one from the16th century or one from the 20th century.  Your choice, Charlotte J
Yong Shin and Shuzhun were, of course, busily packing for the wedding and the long train ride (27 hours) to Manzhouli.  Shuzhun was still running to the train station to update changes to tickets--fickle relatives.  Even so, Yong Shin prepared a lavish lunch for us including dumpling soup and several other dishes.  After lunch, we wished them a safe trip and promised to see them in Manzhouli when they arrived.

The afternoon was spent quietly.  I took a nap and read. Mark tried unsuccessfully to cash traveler’s checks (“must go to downtown bank“--it seems that it is always easier here to pass the buck, to not take responsibility for an action), and  then he worked on the wedding ceremony and his message.  We had adamantly refused dinner  from the Wangs, their being so busy.  Instead, we walked, once again, to a MacDonalds.  We went to bed early in anticipation of our 4:30 AM alarm setting in order to catch our 7:30 flight to Manzhouli via Beijing.
